Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – Km 82 – Wayllabamba
  • Early morning pickup from Cusco (approx. 4:30 AM)
  • Drive to Km 82, the starting point of the trek
  • First section is an easy walk along the Urubamba River
  • Visit Patallacta, an ancient Incan site
  • Camp at Wayllabamba (3,000 m / 9,842 ft)
Day 2: Wayllabamba – Dead Woman’s Pass – Pacaymayo
  • The most challenging day of the trek
  • Climb to Dead Woman’s Pass (Warmiwañusca), the highest point (4,215 m / 13,828 ft)
  • Descend to Pacaymayo campsite
Day 3: Pacaymayo – Wiñay Wayna
  • Visit several archaeological sites: Runkurakay, Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca, Wiñay Wayna
  • Walk through lush cloud forest
  • Last night of camping at Wiñay Wayna
Day 4: Wiñay Wayna – Sun Gate – Machu Picchu – Cusco
  • Early morning hike to Inti Punku (Sun Gate) for sunrise over Machu Picchu
  • Guided tour of Machu Picchu
  • Train back to Cusco
